Lockers and Bike Shells
Since bike thefts are increasingly on the rise, it is very important
that you have a safe place in which to store your bike, whether it be
for a few days, a few hours or even a few minutes. Bike lockers are made
to hold either one or two bikes.
If you need to park your bike at a designated location of a frequent
basis, you will probably be able to purchase a locker agreement with a
standard issue padlock. The locker agreements are normally for a
designated period of time such as six months. These types of agreements
are usually available in light rail stations when a person needs to
commute to work and ride to the rail or metro station rather than drive
a vehicle.
Bike lockers may be composed of such materials as high quality plastic
such as the durable fiberglass reinforced composite plastic.
Many of these bike lockers are constructed with walls that contain
windows to enable the police at transit stations to see what is in the
locker without hindering the security of the bike.
Many bike shells are now constructed to complement the most modern
office buildings. These bike shells may be built in the most innovative
shapes and designs in either neutral shades or multi-colored hues. Some
of these bike shells even have molded-in seating planters and in-laid
designs. In addition, there are many modern custom-made designs that can
be created to blend in with the landscaping or decor of various office
buildings.
The bike shells contain high-quality anti-theft devices with recessed
indoor faces and internal locking bar systems. Other types of locking
systems include pop out T-handle locks with keys. Many have stainless
steel louvered vents on doors with door number plates to identify your
locker or shell.
Another major advantage of bike shells is the protection they offer the
bike from weather elements. The lockers themselves are weather resistant
as well, as they will not rust or need painting. They are also resistant
to U.V. damage as well.
These bike shells can be free-standing or organized in groups. These
groups of bike shells are joined with panels constructed of heavy-duty
anodized aluminum frames.
The bike shells may contain coin operated locks in which the rider can
insert his coins and receive change, if necessary. Some bike shells
contain durable stainless steel padlock handles that will allow for
maximum security padlocks or master keyed locks.
The bike shells are ventilated so that heat and dampness can be
adequately dissipated. Another weather-related advantage is that the
shells are constructed so that water run off will occur.
